Silurian
The Silurians (Earth Reptiles, Eocenes, Psionosauropodomorpha, Homo reptilia) were a reptilian species native to Earth and predated humanity. They lived alongside their aquatic cousins the Sea Devils and were Technologically advanced.
Physical Appearance
Silurians were a varied species with different subspecies and appearances. There were at least ten or eleven different variations that are known of. In general, Silurians were humanoid reptilians with scaly crests on their head.
Species 1: This group was found at Wenley Moor. They had long fingers and three webbed toes on each foot. Their mouths were small and sucker-like. Their main eyes resembled yellow cat eyes and they had a third red eye high on their forehead. They had rectangular external ears.
Species 2: This group was found at Sea Base 4. They were similar to the Wenley Moor species but had stockier builds, brown skin, suckers on the tips of their fingers, smaller mouths, curving spikes around their heads and a third eye on top. The third eye would glow with their speech but was not used to attack.
Species 3: The group found in Wales had only two eyes, more human faces, no external ears, five digits on each hand and crests down their neck and backs. Their tongues were long which they used to inject venom. This tribe seems to have expanded into London with Madame Vastra’s colony having been uncovered during the London Underground expansion.
Anatomy
Silurians were cold blood and could only survive in warmer temperatures. They had powerful muscles and hollow bones. The typical lifespan was 200-250 years although some lived up to 300 years.
The Third Eye
Most Silurians, but not all, possessed a third-eye which provided them with a triple-faceted form of vision. The third eye saw in infrared. This eye allowed them to use their telepathic powers. It would glow along with their emotions and could sense the presence of other Silurians. They could also use it to control the minds of other creatures.
The third eye was capable of harming, and even killing, organic beings. They could also revive a human that was rendered unconscious. Energies from the third eye allowed Silurians to burn through walls and create tunnels.
Culture
The Silurians were mostly a peaceful race with laws that prevented warfare except for defence. They also believed in pure eugenics, with breeding between a Silurian and a Sea Devil being considered a crime punishable by death.
They were generally led by a Triad, three Silurians who ruled jointly. These three came from different backgrounds and controlled different professions. The majority of warriors appeared to be female.
They worshipped a Lizard God.
Biotechnology
The Silurians had advanced genetic capabilities. They were able to bring species back from extinction and modify species, like the Myrka. They treated a genetically engineered plague which was highly virulent and used as a form of “pest control” against the humans.
They processed their own food and didn’t rely on harvesting animals or plants except at times of famine.
Weaponry
Silurians generally relied on their third eye for defence only using technology to enhance their power. They used a Battlecruiser for transportation. Some tribes used guns which could fire fatal energy beams and wore armour and special masks that covered their faces and allowed them to scan objects (mostly the Wales tribes).
