Cybermat
Cybermats were cyborgs used as advance guards, plague carriers and energy thieves by the Cybermen.
All variations had metallic bodies, usually segmented. Some have had eyes, some mouths and cilia. At least one type had organic teeth.
According to some accounts, the Cybermats were created from bodies or body parts of humanoids that were not suitable for Cyber-conversion such as young children and babies.
Variations
Pre-Tomb of the Cybermen: Before freezing themselves on Telos, the Cybermats had crystalline eyes and antennae. These resembled metallic silverfish. Cybermats of this kind could fit in the palm of a humanoid hand.
Wheel in Space: These Cybermats wee similar to the kind found on Telos but they had photoreceptors for eyes instead of crystals.
Closing Time: This type of cybernate had black teardrop eyes and a mouth full of organic teeth. They could drain electrical energy.
Nerva Beacon: This type was were segmented and eyeless resembling flat worms without cilia.
Sleek version: A variant of the Telos cybernate was sleeker and more high-tech. This version could bite humans and infect them with a virus, similar to the ones found on Nerva Beacon. This virus could convert flesh into metal, turning its victim into cyberslaves.
Weaknesses
Cybermats shared the Cybermen’s weakness for gold. Earlier versions could be disabled with electric charges and blasts from the sonic screwdriver.
