Rutan
The Rutans were a race of amorphous green blobs. They were the sworn enemies of the Sontarans.
Biology
In their natural forms, they looked like green glowing jellyfish with many tendrils. They were amphibious and could cling to most surfaces. The could see even though they had no visible eyes and could speak by forming vocal apparatuses. Rutans reproduced by binary fission, resulting in two identical Rutans.
Turans could generate lethal bioelectrical shocks to defend themselves and were able to absorb electrical energy directly as food. They could use the energy to create a personal force field. They could also survive anywhere, including the vacuum of space.
Culture
Rutans never referred to themselves as individuals, preferring first person plurals. They also didn’t have individual names. They were a hive mind and were co-ordinated by a Queen who lived on their home planet of Ruta III.
Military Tactics
They were able to operate independently but didn’t see individuals as important. They also were able to shapeshift to adapt to alien environments and infiltrate alien environments. and cultures. They generally killed specific individuals and took their place, making them the ultimate spy.
Technology
Rutan ships were crystalline in structure and looked like glowing balls of fire. The ships could control the weather to a certain degree.
They also experimented with technology and at one point were attempting to develop a weapon that would convert an entire planet from matter to anti-matter.
