Ian Chesterton
Ian Chesterton Companionship and Life
Ian Chesterton was one of the 1st Doctor's companions. He, like his fellow companion Barbara Wright, travelled with the Doctor from episodes An Unearthly Child to The Chase. He was a science teacher at Coal Hill School in London and was also one of Susan Foreman's teachers. He and Barbara started to investigate Susan and followed her home to a junkyard and into the Tardis, where they both met the "cantankerous" Doctor, as Ian had worded it.
The Doctor found Ian's honesty, loyalty to his friends, and practical manner to be three things he could not do without!
Most Remembered For
Ian Chesterton is remembered the most for a few things. The first is that he was always willing to challenge and get up in the Doctor's face when needed. Another is when he was Knighted by the legionary King Richard the Lionheart. The last thing was his desire to go home. As much as he loved travelling with the Doctor, Susan, and Barbara, his and Barbara's desire for 1960's London home was so strong, he and Barbara used Dalek Tech to get home.
Ian Chesterton's character was played by actor William Russell.
