Ood
The Ood (or Oodkind) were a gestalt telepathic cephalopod-faced humanoid race. They were enslaved by humans who mutilated them to ensure a dedication to servitude.
Biology
The Ood were humanoid in shape with colloid tentacles located on the lower portions of their faces which were used for feeding. They had no vocal cords so they only communicated via telepathy.
Ood had two brains, a forebrain in their head and a secondary hindbrain which they usually held in their hands which was connect by a cord to their faces. The forebrain did most of the thinking and this was where the telepathic sensors were stored. The hindbrain was used to process memories and emotions so if it were removed, it would cause mental instabilities. Humans removed their hindbrains and replaced them with translation spheres which allowed them to vocalize their telepathic thoughts.
The Ood were mostly benign and harmless creatures. They were, however, susceptible to manipulation. They could be controlled and/or possessed by more powerful telepathic entities.
